The Sports Yoga Studio is designed to stimulate the body, mind and senses. The room temperature is set to a warm (not HOT) 80 degrees allowing the muscles and joints to open gently. Yoga mats and props are provided.
Sports Yoga is a complete 60-minute workout that strengthens and stretches every area of the body, blending the most effective postures in a concise sequence.
While participating in sports, imbalances occur in the body, which can lead to strain on the joints. This routine, when practiced regularly, corrects the imbalances that active sports create in our body. The Sports Yoga postures train the muscles and tendons to stabilize the joints. The standing postures are especially good for strengthening the small stabilizing muscles of the lower leg while stretching hip muscles. This combination leads to greater power and fluidity in sports.
Our Sports Yoga sequence also increases core strength, not just the postures that specifically target the core but also in standing and balance postures. These postures help create whole-body functional strength and encourage greater awareness of body and breath.
Sports Yoga is an All Levels Class – posture modifications will be demonstrated throughout. The class is challenging but not complicated. Most importantly, it’s FUN!
